Mack Truck has been making engines since 1916; the first engines were gasoline and had 4 and 6 cylinders. By 1938, Mack began producing diesel engines, and in 1957, the END and ENDT673 turbocharged engines were produced.
In the 1960s, Mack developed the Maxidyne engine with high torque. Maxidyne was a revolutionary engine in the industry as it enabled Class 8 heavy trucks to operate with a 5-speed gearbox and an operating range of up to 1,700 rpm. Previously, heavy trucks operated at 1800-2100 rpm and were equipped with a 10-speed gearbox.
In 2014, Mack introduced three new engines: the 11-liter MP7, the 13-liter MP8 and the 16-liter MP10, ranging from 325 to 605 hp. and with a torque from 1627 to 2793 Nm. Mack MP engines are considered fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, delivering high power at low speeds and high performance in difficult conditions, especially off-road conditions.
